You are invited to Sun & Sea, an opera performance unfolding on a beach crafted from light, architecture, and sound. This unconventional stage recreates an endless summer day, viewed from above — a perspective we call the gaze of the sun. With layered harmonies only possible in this space, their songs resonate deep within. Beneath an unmoving sun, the stillness of the beach transforms into a canvas for contemplation. Here, you pause, feel, and reflect. Tamburins presents its most artful expression yet — the Korean premiere of Sun & Sea, unfolding in our new pop-up space in Seongsu.

In Sun, an Opera
On an indoor beach filled with tons of sand, this unique opera performance unfolds in a continuous loop over several hours. Audiences rotate every hour, experiencing a moment suspended in time. Sun & Sea is a collaborative creation by three Lithuanian artists — Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė, and Lina Lapelytė. Premiered at the 2019 Venice Biennale, it redefined the boundaries of opera and won the Golden Lion for its visionary form. Now, for the first time in Korea, Tamburins invites you to experience this award-winning performance. Step beyond the stillness of everyday life, and into the beach that’s waiting just for you.

A hinoki tree adrift on blue waves meets the fresh scent of pine and the cool breeze of bergamot, spreading like a wind slicing through the sea, fresh and invigorating. Its salt-soaked grain, tempered by the sea’s ceaseless rise and retreat, softens into wave-like forms. Weathered under the sun and twisted by time, it encounters olibanum’s quiet resonance — reborn as wood imbued with the tranquil hue of the sea.
